Work! Work! Work!

The second day of work was so exciting! I started off my day by meeting with my fabulous mentor Elena. She is just so wonderful; I love listening to the way she talks. There is just something about her. She is in charge of the newly developed division of the Sales Department: Communication, Training, and Education. Charlene (a former intern who now works full time--aka a mark. superstar) and I complete the entire department. It's young, but we are out to prove how great this division is going to be.

I can't wait to dive into my summer project! I will be formulating all kinds of party supplies for reps. This will include an ultimate party checklist, party supply kits, and the MOST EXCITING--A MARK. VIDEO to show how a party could actually happen. I am going to be planning the filming of the video, writing the script, and also appearing in it with the other interns! It is so rewarding to work for a company and actually see the result of what you work so hard for. I really feel like I have the opportunity to make my "mark." and help other reps. Party selling is one of my strong points, so I am so lucky to have this assignment.

I also was able to sit in on a meeting Charlene led introducing the 411 on mark. reps to new hires. She is so good at what she does! The presentation was flawless and I actually was able to share some thoughts to add to the conversation because I am a real rep going through the same things the presentation was talking about. I was glad to be there and allow them to pick my brain to really understand what fuels mark.'s success--their reps!

After a long day of work, the interns relaxed by doing what we know how to do best. Here are the interns off to shop at H&M after our hard day at work. Aren't we cute?

Today was just as fun! I just love mark. The big thing today was our "Make Their mark." luncheon with Robin Tolvin. She is a consultant for mark. and was one of the most inspirational women I have EVER heard speak. Not only was she extremely confident, she was hilarious and full of wisdom. Many of the girls and I agreed that she drove home points that our parents had instilled in us. Ideas like working hard, dressing the part, respect, never giving up, and personal drive. We joked saying how funny it was that our parents weren't the only ones preaching these things to us. (Thanks Mom and Dad! I guess you were right about a lot of things! I must say, I turned out alright because of you two!)

Some of the notes I jotted down were: "Pretend to be confident and some day it will be natural." "Fake it til you make it." "Be prepared." "You teach others how to treat you." "You can't be good at everything, and don't ever claim to be." "Don't stand still." "Internal drive will take you farther than anything else." "Invest in relationships."

Anyway, I am thrilled because her gift to all of the interns is individual time with all of us. She claims to be brutally honest and says that we deserve to to hear the truth. I can't wait to hear what she has to say about me, my strengths, and where she sees me going in my career.

Another assignment I received is getting the interns together and creating some questions to ask mark.'s new brand ambassador--Twilight's Ashley Greene! mark.'s photo shoot is coming up soon, so we had the opportunity to create the questions mark. would ask Ashley! How cool is that? (I have to admit, I am so disappointed that Lauren Conrad will be out of the picture, but Ashley seems to stand for a lot of great things and be a good role model--inspiring mark. girls, so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. But I will forever love Lauren)

The interns were all asked to stay after work tonight to help create gift bags for a Young Designer's Purse Award Night. We stayed for 2 hours hooking mascaras to eyeliners, lip glosses to lip glosses, and eye shadow brushes to lip brushes. Lots of hooking up! It was a good bonding time though, and we also made it a little more fun and ordered in pizza. It was delicious! mark. just spoils us! As we left work tonight, it was pouring rain, but that didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves in NY. Here we are in the rain and on the subway:

Last for tonight, mark. has set sales goals for each of the interns for the 10 weeks we will be in NY. They want their top reps to keep selling, even though they are away from their customer base. So please take a look at my eBoutique and support me and my intern team as we are in NY! The site to visit and shop is: http://eheitker.mymarkstore.com/
