The Start of an Amazing Summer!!

Where to begin?!?! I'll have to start with Sunday night I guess!

Sunday night all of the interns got together with our directors, Janet Hector and Dawn Speller. We had a fabulous dinner at Pane e Vino. It was so exciting to finally see all the interns and meet them in person. I had a fantastic chicken dish (that I have no idea what was on it), but I enjoyed every bite of it and coffee ice cream to wash it down. After our dinner Dawn gave all 12 of us a gift---a BRAND NEW FLIP CAMERA! She and Claudia (the President of mark.) thought it would be a great idea to give us these cameras to record and document our trip and assignments over the summer. We all were so excited. It felt like Christmas. After dinner, I stayed with 3 of the other interns to continue talking with Janet and Dawn. They are such easy going ladies; it was fun to talk with them. They also gave us tons of advice about our first day of work that really calmed the nerves.

Monday morning, Brittany (my roommate) and I got up with the sun--hahaha. We has to be up to meet the interns at 6:50am. We successfully took the train to the Avon building at 1251 Avenue of the Americas. There we met the Avon interns and went over tons of orientation-like information. Each of us also got a mark. gift and an Avon gift at our seats. I am loving these gifts all the time! We also played this ridiculous ice breaker game. Here is how it went: we had to chose an adjective to describe ourselves, but it had to begin with the same letter of our first name. We were sitting in a "U" shape and had to go around the room repeating everyone else's name before us along with making up our own. I still can recite some of the names, "Awesome Amanda, Lovely Lisa, Kind Krystal, Sensible Sadie, Super Sarah", etc, etc. It was a challenge to remember all the names, especially when you were half way across the room like I was!

After orientation with Avon, the mark. girls walked over to 777 3rd Ave for mark. orientation. We were greeted by the fabulous President--Claudia. She is just the most adorable thing you could ever imagine. We all got to talk with her, eat lunch and mingle with the other mark. employees. This is when I also got to meet my mentor--Elena Panos. She is a newbie to the mark. company and I am so excited to help her become better acquainted with loving mark.! Here I am with my fellow interns Natalie, Haley, and Brittany.

Sometimes it was hard to keep focused at this lunch because we were in a board room surrounded by mark. products. Most of them we had not seen before and wanted to get up and really take a look at the new trendy products. Here are some of the pictures I snapped of new products:

Then the biggest party of the day was getting to see our "intern spaces". I will describe with one word--UNBELIEVABLE. (Galaxy--you have a lot of pressure. I hope you are feeling it. haha) The pictures are below. These are the two areas that we have and our views from the desks. And the gifts didn't stop coming then; we had a big white box at each of our desks, sealed with a bright pink ribbon. Inside was the latest handbag, necklace, bracelet, headband, the free trade body products, bronzer, and face wash. It was seriously Christmas for us. Janet also was so kind to get all of us hot pink notebooks with our names embossed in white. PRECIOUS! I just love it.

I am so overwhelmed by this summer already. I can't believe that I have the opportunity to be in this big city, with such wonderful girls, and an amazing company. I am seriously in love with mark., what they do, and what they stand for. I could not be more proud of mark. and being a mark. rep (and now intern). LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

After work and finally settling down from all the excitement, the mentors and the mentees all went out to eat at Ashton's Ally. The food was, again, delicious. We were able to eat outside and really get to know each other. Elena is so genuine and seems to have a big heart. I am so lucky to be working with her!

The tv shows The Hills and The City are coming on soon tonight, so I have to wrap this entry up to go watch, but I will update tomorrow with what my first real day of work was like and give more details about my project for this summer. It is so cool! I can't wait to share!!
