This Sunday, I had the opportunity to meet up with a former Galaxy employee--Devon Ricks (Maggio). She had worked with my brother and Dad at Galaxy a few years ago before she headed off to NY. Chris thought she would be a great contact person for me, and was nice enough to introduce us.
It was really comforting to meet with another Midwesterner who was now in the big city. Devon has been so helpful throughout my summer (and even before I left). She and I have been emailing back and forth, and I'm so glad we got the chance to finally meet.
We met at The Notila House in Soho. This restaurant is known for its music--geesh it was loud! In 2009, it was ranked for the best brunch with music in New York, and I now know why. Ha! It was great atmosphere and great food. I had a delicious serving of Vanilla Brandy Baked French Toast. Trust me--it tasted as good as it sounds!
Devon has been a great resource for me, especially since I don't know anyone else here. She has sent me subway maps, suggested the best restaurants, and hot spot shopping areas. She even knew what day the best stores got new shipments in! (Essential NY shopping knowledge)
Once again, here I am, so lucky in this big city. I am so glad that I got to meet up with Devon, someone young, who knows what I am going through in this new place. She knew how important it was that I had someone I could trust and go to with questions, and she has proven to be helpful!
After brunch, I met up with Amanda, Kristin, and Brittany and we walked around Soho for a little shopping, Chinatown for doggie tshirts, and ended up in Little Italy for dinner.
Check out this view--the streets of Little Italy leading to the Empire State Building.
Paesano--dinner!!
